Clayton County area shut down after deputies shoot suspect

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities are asking people to avoid the area of 5320 Philips Drive after a deputy-involved shooting.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were following a suspect with multiple warrants for his arrest this afternoon on Phillips Drive.

At some point, shots were fired and the suspect was hit once. He is expected to survive.

No deputies or officers were injured.

Authorities said the area is currently shut down as an active crime scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be investigating the shooting.
