Main website for Atlanta airport back online after experiencing brief outage

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport website is working after experiencing technical difficulties Friday morning.

While down, the website had an error message that while it was experiencing the outage, those visiting the airport website would see a snapshot of the web page from the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.

The website came back online just before 8 a.m.

The website is one of several ways that passengers can check the wait times for security checkpoints at the world’s busiest airport. As of 7:30 a.m., the airport’s ATL Trak-a-FlightSM Service section on the website is working.

Officials have not said what caused the outage.

This is not the first time the website has been down. In October, ABC News reported that there was a Russian cyberattack on multiple US airport websites.

Authorities have not said if this is a similar situation.

Airport officials told Channel 2 Action News they are working to determine what caused the problem.

We have a crew on the way to the airport to gather more information and will have the latest information on this story on Channel 2 Action News at Noon.
