Clayton County deputy fired for excessive force after holding gun to suspect’s head

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office has fired a deputy they say used excessive force when she put a handgun to a suspect’s head during an arrest.

Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill said Nicole Pitts was fired Wednesday after she pressed a gun under the suspect’s chin after he refused to get into a patrol car. The suspect was handcuffed behind his back at the time.

A deputy who saw it happen reported the incident to a supervisor. Hill said Pitts was placed on administrative leave Tuesday night without pay and fired Wednesday afternoon.

This is the third Clayton County deputy to be fired since last month.
