Earlier Sunday, police said they received a call at 4:15 p.m. in the 700 block of Commerce Boulevard in response to a missing person call. During the investigation, police learned that Nkansah went missing between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
Officers say the child was last seen near the back door of his home and was last seen on the neighbor’s camera at 3:10 p.m.
Lt. Butts with Clayton County Sheriff’s Office was walking the parking lot looking in abandoned vehicles when he found the child in an unlocked Hyundai Sonata.
Medical personnel arrived on scene to check Nkansah for any injuries, then he was turned back over to his father. CCPD said in a Facebook post that “the parents were extremely grateful for the response of all emergency personnel on scene.”

It is unclear how the child got away from his parents and into a car at a dealership on Highway 85. CCPD said in a Facebook post that people should lock their doors.
“Clayton County Police Department would like to remind all citizens to please make sure their doors are secured if they have young juveniles living within the home,” the post read.
