CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning one of their own after he suddenly passed just a few days before Christmas.
Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen says Executive Protection Officer John Ellison was found unresponsive at his home on Dec. 21.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. There is no word on what led up to his death.
The sheriff’s office has set up a memorial for Officer Ellison outside the Clayton County Courthouse. The memorial will say until Friday night for those who want to pay their respects.

“Officer Ellison was a valued member of my Executive Protection Team, and his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the safety of our community will be deeply missed. His passing is a profound loss for his family, friends, and the entire Clayton County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Allen wrote.
A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday at Now Faith Apostolic Ministries on Saturday morning. He will be laid to rest in Eufaula, Alabama on Monday.
