Father says off-duty officer started argument over parking space, took ugly turn

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A metro Atlanta father says an evening at a trampoline park almost turned violent when he got into an argument with an off-duty officer and his wife over a parking space.

Bryan Tucker told Channel 2's Tom Jones that he took his seven kids to the Sky Zone trampoline park in McDonough Sunday, and an off-duty officer started arguing with him over his parking space.

“He wanted that parking space,” Tucker said.

Tucker said his sister's fiancé told him the officer that they were still loading kids.

“He said, 'Well y'all must want to go to jail in Henry County today,'” Tucker told Jones.

Tucker says the officer began screaming and cursing. He says the officer's wife then came toward his family in a threatening manner.

Witnesses said the woman approached the family like she had a gun.

“She's basically walking with her hands behind her back and walking up to us like she's going to pull out and start shooting,” Tucker said.

Jones got ahold of the police report surrounding the incident. It said the officer was uncooperative and refused to give a statement.

The responding officer said in the report that surveillance video showed the woman approaching with her hand behind her back or at her hip.

Tucker told Jones he plans to seek a warrant for her arrest, as well.

“And I would like to see charges brought against him,” Tucker told Jones.

Jones called the officer Friday to get his side of the story.

A woman answered the phone, saying, “You have the wrong number.”

The investigating officer said he will present the case to a magistrate judge for a simple assault warrant for the officer's wife.

Tucker told Jones he is licensed to carry and said the encounter could have turned even uglier.

Channel 2 Action News is not naming the officer or his wife because they have not been charged at this time.
