CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigating a shooting involving the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Channel 2 Action News learned the shooting happened early Wednesday morning at 2135 Godby Road in College Park.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s office said its fugitive team was serving a violation of probation warrant at the apartment for 22-year-old Tory Brown. Authorities said deputies told Brown to leave the apartment, but he stayed inside. When deputies entered the apartment, the GBI said Brown “advanced” toward the deputies and one opened fire on him.

Brown suffered a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.

A tenant of the apartment, who says Brown was her daughter’s boyfriend, doesn’t think the shooting was justified.

Antoinette Martin says she did not know Brown was wanted by police. She says officers kicked in her door, ordered everyone out and then they heard gunfire.

“I didn’t know none of this was going to happen. I’m devastated,” Martin told Channel 2′s Tom Jones. “I want justice done. I want justice served. I want justice done. They need to pay for hurting him. He didn’t deserve to get killed.”

Martin also says police ransacked her apartment looking for a gun.

“Not one gun did they find. They’re lying. I know they’re lying,” Martin said.

The GBI is continuing to investigate the shooting.

This is the 65th officer involved shooting the GBI has been requested to investigate in 2021.
