Mother asks for help to find gunman who shot her, killing her unborn baby

LOVEJOY, Ga. — A mother whose unborn baby was killed when someone shot her, is asking for the public’s help to find the gunman.

Princess Wolfe, 27, made that plea from her hospital bed at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she is recovering from two gunshot wounds.

“All I want is justice for my unborn child,” she said in a video sent to Channel 2′s Tom Jones.

In the video, Wolfe explains that she was shot while sleeping with her 8-year-old daughter. She said she wants the public’s help finding the shooter.

“And I’m just asking anybody, if anybody know anything, if anybody seen anything, please contact Lovejoy police,” she said.

Lovejoy police said that at around 2 a.m. on March 23, a gunman fired bullets into Wolfe’s bedroom at the Villas at Hampton apartments.

“Two bullets traveled into her side,” Wolfe’s aunt, Stephanie McGruder said.

One of those bullets took the life of Baby Cori, who was expected to be born this week.

“It’s senseless. It makes no sense,” McGruder said. “We grieve the loss of this baby, Baby Cori.”

TRENDING STORIES:

Wolfe’s aunt said the 8-year-old wasn’t harmed. McGruder doesn’t know who would shoot a pregnant mother, but said her niece was concerned about her safety recently.

“A few months ago she had started (saying) someone had started stalking her,” she said.

She said her family never expected something like this.

Now, they have gone from planning to celebrate the birth of Baby Cori, to planning to say goodbye.

“We’re planning a funeral. We got to plan to relocate. We got to plan to keep both of them safe,” she said, rattling off a list of new plans.

Lovejoy police said they are following up on leads. They said the unborn baby’s father is cooperating.

The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral and relocation expenses.
