CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police have released new details about a shooting that left a 13-year-old dead.
Brayan Zavala was outside his home working on a lawnmower with his father, uncle and brother when he was killed Thursday in Riverdale.
Police now say a masked man walked into the family’s yard with a shotgun and fired a single shot at Brayan. The teen died in his father and brother’s arms in his front yard. The suspect fled the scene.
The family was preparing to celebrate Brayan’s 14th birthday this week.
Jesus Zavala, Brayan’s brother, told Channel 2′s Tom Jones that the car initially drove by, then turned around. A man got out of the car with a shotgun and walked up to Brayan.

“He didn’t say nothing. He didn’t say, ‘I’m assaulting you. I’m robbing you’,” Zavala said. “Naw, he just stood there and shot my brother.”
Zavala said the gunman took off in a Chevy HHR with no plates.
Clayton County Police are asking for the public’s help to find the killer. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department or Crime Stoppers.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral expenses.
