Owner arrested after Clayton County dog dies from being tied up without food or water for a month

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police have arrested a man on animal cruelty charges after his dog died from not having food or water for over a month.

Officers say they responded to the 5100 block of Roses of Picardy back in January after someone alerted them to the condition of their neighbor’s dog.

They say they found a dog, named Max, tied to a tree in the backyard in “grave condition.”

Investigators learned that 54-year-old Greg Cosby had left Max tied to the tree without shelter, food or water for more than a month.

TRENDING STORIES:

Max was taken to an animal hospital, but died from his injuries.

Cosby was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and taken to the Clayton County Jail.
