ATLANTA — Operations at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport rental car terminal were halted briefly on Sunday after an alleged explosive device was found, Atlanta Police say.

“It appears a possible grenade may have been found in a rental that was returned at the location. Officers and bomb techs are on scene investigating and traffic is being blocked off,” police told Channel 2 Action News.
Turns out, the “grenade” was a novelty item, and was said to be non-hazardous or a threat, APD said in an updated statement.

Airport officials told Channel 2 Action News a suspicious item was found, investigated and cleared.
Operations have not been affected and have resumed as normal, officials say.
