‘So distraught:’ Family of woman, child killed in deadly I-75 crash remember loved ones

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Florida woman was looking to start a new life with her family in the metro Atlanta area. That dream was cut short when Queenie Roux and her 3-year-old daughter, Queen, were taken during a tragic crash on I-75.

Family members say four children who survived the crash are in the hospital, but are doing alright physically. They are scarred mentally though.

“It, it’s devastating,” said Tiffany Roux-Shinn, a cousin of the victim.

Roux-Shinn is heart-broken that her 28-year-old cousin and Roux’s toddler daughter are gone.

Both were killed in a two-car crash Wednesday along I-75 northbound just before the Forest Parkway exit.

“She’s gone...tragically,” Roux-Shinn said.

“Those kids were so distraught. Even though they were in pain, they were asking about their mother at the scene,” Roux-Shinn told Channel 2′s Tom Jones.

Roux-Shinn says her cousin and five of her six kids were looking for a fresh start in Atlanta.

“She was transitioning, coming up here to get a better job, start a new life,” she said.

This has been hard on the whole family, but especially the fathers of Roux’s children, she said.
