Two dead after shootout inside car in Forest Park, police say

FOREST PARK, Ga. — Police say a shootout inside a car in Forest Park overnight cost two young men their lives.

Officers say they were called to a Chevron station on Morrow Road just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning to calls of a person shot.

Two young men were found suffering several gunshot wounds inside a Toyota Avalon.

A 16-year-old in the backseat was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Emonte Gunn, 19, was in the front seat. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators say the two victims and two other people were inside the car when the two victims opened fire on one another. The other two passengers were not injured.

Police have not released any details on what led up to the shooting or commented on any potential suspects.
