CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police are warning that a serial rapist may have struck again. Multiple rapes have been reported in the county in the last four years, most with the same M.O.
On Sunday, police say a man broke into the Park at Tara apartments and sexually assaulted a woman. The victim and her roommate fought back, but the man got away, according to police.
Police released a sketch of the suspect Wednesday -- alongside two earlier sketches of the man police say is a serial rapist.
Channel 2's Tom Jones was in Clayton County Wednesday, where police were going door-to-door asking people to be on the lookout for the man.
Police are hoping the attacker left behind some DNA.
Jones was with police as they passed the sketch out at an apartment complex.
"Is this supposed to be the same guy?" a resident asked.
"We don't know," the officer said. "We want you guys to look out for each other."
Police said the assaults started in 2015. Jones talked to Major Anthony Thurman with the Clayton County police, who said that so far, there have been eight incidents.
Police said this attacker's method of operation is strongly similar to the other attacks. They believe they are dealing with one person, even though the men in the sketches don't look the same.
Jones talked neighbors, who said they are scared.
"It's most definitely scary," one woman said. "I'm a single mother."
Another resident said she is considering moving.
"I would like him caught, or I would like to break my lease," she said.
None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact them.
