COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police are investigating an officer-involved shooting at the Masters Inn on Windy Hill Rd.
Police say it happened at 7:44 a.m. when two officers responded to reports of a suspicious person apparently under the influence of drugs.
According to police, the officers got involved in an altercation with 30-year-old Joshua Duvall in a motel room that ended in the hallway where a witness says he saw the suspect attack officers.
Justin Graves said he heard the sound of breaking glass and went upstairs to investigate. He says he saw a man trying to attack two officers.
“He still kept going, he would not go down. The cops kept telling him "get on the ground, get on the ground." He would not get on the ground. So they Tazed him again,” said Graves said.
Graves says he heard a gunshot.
Police said Duvall wouldn't let up at one point the officers felt their lives were on the line and shot him once in the stomach. He was transported to Kennestone Hospital.
One the officers suffered minor injuries and both are on desk duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
