COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Cobb County.

According to Cobb County police, two people were shot Wednesday around 7 p.m. at Winwood Apartments on Shenandoah Trail.

Two people died.

“I saw somebody laying down in the corner over here. He was just laying down on the ground. I saw the police trying to revive him and get him to health,” neighbor Rainer Fields said.

Police said while firefighters were on the scene to get a child out a locked car, a shootout occurred at the apartment complex. The firefighters were not hurt.

“Basically (I was) looking at a movie on my phone, had my headphone in and heard like 5 shots,” Fields said.

Neighbors said this is the latest in a series of shooting at the complex over the past six months.

“I always tell my family that we should just move out,” neighbor Jose Franco said.

Cobb County police say they have charged an Atlanta man with the double-fatal shooting.

Broderick Lewis Taylor is charged with two counts of felony murder, possession of a firearm/knife during Cthe commission of a crime, and felony aggravated assault, among other charges.

Records show Taylor has a long list of arrests for drug and gang-related crimes and was once charged in connection with a 2008 homicide in Austell, although not with the murder itself, according to police.

He is being held without bond.
