COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say two women stole nearly 100 pieces of mail, including financial documents and Social Security information, from several apartment complex mailboxes.
Channel 2′s Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell said that during a traffic stop, police found a W-2 form, a Social Security card and credit cards in the suspect’s glove box. The rest of the mail was scattered throughout the car and some were torn open.
Investigators believe Hayley Haines and Candice Johnson stole the mail from various apartment complexes that have cluster mailbox units.

Haines and Johnson have since been arrested on felony charges.
Newell talked to neighbor Judy Alibrhim, who said she opened her mailbox at her apartment complex in Acworth and expected to see something inside.

“I hadn’t checked my mail for a really long time,” Alibrhim said. “I was like, empty. There was no mail or anything. I find that kind of strange because I knew I had some wedding invitations, and they weren’t in there.”
Alibrhim said she is thankful that all she was missing was a wedding invitation.
“You’re costing someone (their) privacy. It’s very important documents sometimes,” Alibrhim said. “Most of my neighbors are older. Imagine if it was one of their mailboxes and they don’t have electronic devices to look over their important stuff.”

Police said there could be more than 11 victims. They found a set of keys inside the suspect’s car that look like mailbox keys, but it’s unclear who the keys actually belong to. The suspects told police they don’t work for the post office, and they didn’t have an answer when officers asked them why they had so much mail in their car.
