3 children safe after kidnapping, father stabbed in home invasion, Cobb police say

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police said a man was stabbed and his three children were kidnapped Wednesday during a home invasion in Mableton Wednesday.

Police said they responded to a mobile home on Mableton Parkway where a man had been stabbed around 9 p.m.

We’re hearing from the father who was beaten by masked men, starting on Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m.

They found Danny Bernal, 31, with multiple stab wounds and lacerations. Bernal told police that several masked men as well as his ex-girlfriend had forced their way inside his home, stabbed him and kidnapped his three children.

Cobb County police were able to track the children down at a Super 8 Motel in Decatur early Thursday morning. The children were recovered unharmed.

Bernal’s ex-girlfriend and three men were taken in for questioning.

Cobb county police released photos of five small children that were rescued from the motel. It’s unclear how the other two children are involved.

It’s unclear if Bernal’s ex-girlfriend is the mother of the children. Her identity has not been released. Police have also not released the identities of the three men or said what charges they could face.

Bernal’s condition is unclear.
