Police said they believe 54-year-old Jason Dixon of Owings Mills, Maryland was responsible for robbing the Credit Union of Georgia location on Cobb Parkway in Acworth on Sept. 3.
Investigators said surveillance photos and a good description by bank tellers helped lead them to Dixon. They said he tried to rob the credit union with a gun and claimed he had an explosive device.
Employees at the credit union said the man ran from the bank on foot, leaving the area. Acworth police investigators later discovered he had run down the street and gotten into a black Hyundai Santa Fe driven by someone else.

Acworth’s Criminal Investigations Division worked with the FBI to track Dixon down and the FBI served a search warrant on Dixon’s Maryland home on Oct. 1. They said several items were found, connecting him to the credit union robbery.
FBI agents arrested Dixon and charged him federally with bank robbery by force or violence. During the investigation, agents said they were able to connect Dixon to two other bank robberies in the state of Georgia.
Dixon remains in federal custody.
