MABLETON, Ga. — The newly formed City of Mableton now has its first mayor and city council.
Voters on Tuesday participated in runoff elections to select a mayor and four councilors.

In March, voters picked city council members for districts one and six.
Michael Owens appears to have won the mayor’s seat with 55.68% of the votes, according to the Cobb County Elections Office.

Owens told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell that he wants to preserve home values and fight for affordable home ownership, among other things.
Carman, who appears to have lost the runoff election, voted against the cityhood last November and supported the de-annexation from the Mableton movement.
Voters chose to fill the remaining council seats with Dami Oladapo, Keisha Jeffcoat, Patricia J. Auch and TJ Ferguson.
