COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A man wanted for shooting up a Marietta home after not being invited to a game night is now facing more trouble with law enforcement.
Cobb County police say Cody Demmitt fired multiple shot into his neighbor’s house after being denied access to their game night party. One man was shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive.
On Monday, afternoon SWAT teams searched Demmitt’s Cobb County home, but did not find him.

Tuesday afternoon, Demmitt was confirmed as a suspect in the shooting of a police officer in south Memphis just before 1 p.m. Officer Roy Hurst with the Southaven Police Department was shot in the left forearm and taken to the hospital. He has since been released.
Southaven police confirmed that Demmitt then stole Hurst’s unmarked patrol car and drove toward Arkansas.

Police in St. Francis, Arkansas said Demmitt later abandoned the police car and ran into the woods on foot.
“The police officers chasing him probably didn’t have any idea who he was chasing. That’s one of the hazards of law enforcement. We have no idea sometimes who we’ve stopped,” said St. Francis County Sheriff Bobby May.
The St. Francis Sheriff’s Office says Demmitt has been captured in Arkansas. The FBI is now involved in the investigation.
Demmitt’s girlfriend and their young child are safe in the Memphis area.
