MARIETTA — The ongoing Writer’s Guild of America strike is leading to the halting of film and television production in Georgia, and it’s already having an impact on businesses supported by production work.
Channel 2’s Tom Regan spoke to employees of a catering company in Marietta, who said they’re seeing a slowdown in orders as well.

“It’s been quiet here for the last couple of weeks. That’s for sure,” said Atlanta Craft Services managing partner, Will Adamek.
Atlanta Craft Services specializes in catering for feature film and television shows, as well as game shows and commercials.
Adamek said with fewer productions in the works and bookings for his catering service are off by 40%.
“It seems to take a real impact on the bigger production stuff, with the episode shows or feature film stuff,” Adamek said.

Georgia’s $4 billion film and television industry is also bracing for the unpredictable suspension of productions. It could ultimately affect tens of thousands of crew members and others supported by the industry.
“We dumped a lot of money in Georgia into these sound stages and lots, so I imagine those are down. The economic impact is far-reaching. I know a lot of people who work in crafts and union stuff. They are slower than normal too. They want to come to work,” Adamek said.
Adamek said they are still getting books for smaller film and television shoots, like commercials.
“It’s going to be tough. But with all the weddings we do as well, it should keep us afloat.” said executive chef Jake Boyton.
