Cobb County child hit by car while she walked to school, police say

ACWORTH, Ga. — A girl on her way to school was struck by a car on Tuesday morning, Acworth police said.

Officers say they were called to Old 41 Highway near North Cobb High School just before 8 a.m. after 911 callers said the girl was hit by a car.

When officers and paramedics arrived to the school, they found the girl laying in the road. She was alert and stable.

Paramedics took the girl to the hospital to be checked out further. Her current condition is unknown.

Witnesses told police that the girl tried to cross the street outside of a crosswalk when she was hit.

The girl’s age has not been confirmed. Awtrey Middle School is also near the accident location.

Police say the driver of the car was found to not be at fault for the accident.
