COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned a woman has died after an officer-involved shooting in Marietta.
Cobb County police Chief Mike Register told Channel 2's Chris Jose officers responded to a report of a suicidal woman at a home on Robin Hood Place in East Cobb County around 2 p.m.
Police said when three officers arrived on the scene, the woman was at the front door. They tried to de-escalate the situation but the woman went back inside, came back to the door with a gun in her hand, authorities said.
That's when the officers opened fire.
“The officers who were involved were not injured, but as you may understand, they are very shaken, being involved in a situation like this,” Register said. “It's just a very unfortunate situation for all who are involved.”

The woman was taken to Kennestone Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Police said officers are familiar with the home because they're responded to similar suicidal calls in the past.
Channel 2 Action News learned the woman's 3-year-old daughter was inside the home during the shooting.
Neighbors said they heard up to 10 shots fired during the incident.
“They said, ‘There's a gun, there's a gun,’ and then there were gunshots,” said neighbor Diana Nash.
NewsChopper2 over the scene showed police tape around a home. Dozens of officers were on scene investigating.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation.
