COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A local high school teacher is in jail after police say he had sex with a student somewhere inside the school.
Cobb County police arrested Zachary White, 29, on Thursday. White, a teacher and basketball coach at Osborne High School, is accused of having sex with one of his 17-year-old students.
Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes obtained the arrest warrants that shows the teacher faces two counts of sexual assault. Both charges are felonies.
Osborne Principal Joshua Morreale sent a letter out to parents telling them about the arrest.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students continues to be the most important thing to me as your principal. We are cooperating fully with the Cobb County police, are conducting a thorough internal investigation, and have no reason to believe these allegations threaten any other Osborne students. Effective immediately, the teacher will not be allowed on campus as the investigation continues.”

Fernandes contacted the school district’s administrators but they said they couldn’t confirm if the investigation was ongoing or closed due to legal reasons.
A parent, who also works for Cobb County Schools, told Fernandes that she hopes administrators look deeper into the situation.
“Who knows how long this has been going on, or if this is an isolated incident,” she said.
White is behind bars with no bond. He will have to wait to face a superior court judge to ask for bond.
