COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A Cobb County deputy has been arrested and charged with bringing drugs into a jail, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office said.
Sheriff Craig Owens requested an internal investigation after contraband was found at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Deputy Dyimond Johnson, 30, was arrested and charged with four felonies, including crossing guard lines with a controlled substance and violating his oath of office, officials said. Johnson was fired immediately.
Johnson was hired last September.

Officials have not released further details about what drugs were brought into the detention center or if anyone else would face charges.

“Sheriff Owens remains committed to transparency at every level and will swiftly hold to account any employee who violates their oath of office and the public’s trust,” the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
