Code Yellow lifted at 2 Cobb County schools after police deem threats ‘not credible’

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Several law enforcement agencies are investigating a string of threats made toward two schools in Cobb County.

On Tuesday, Cobb County School leaders said North Cobb High School and Awtrey Middle School received threats, causing the school to enforce a Code Yellow.

School leaders put a Code Yellow in place when there is a potential threat on campus that is not serious enough to warrant a Code Red lockdown.

Police confirmed that none of the threats made were credible.

“We are also aware of a nationwide pattern of false rumors being intentionally spread by students in districts across the country,” officials said in a statement to Channel 2 Action News. “These false rumors (known as “swatting”) are impacting school operations in a number of our schools, as well as districts across the metropolitan area and the country.”

School leaders have not specified what the threats made were.

Police have not said if anyone has been taken into custody in connection to this incident.
