COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A burglary suspect is in jail after police said a student threatened him after he targeted college apartments in Cobb County.
The wrestler and her mother held the suspect, even though he had a gun.
"I come around the corner and he was just standing there and I was freaking out like, ‘who are you? why are you in my apartment?’" Kayla Mesar said.
She said she had no idea the armed man standing in front of her had already allegedly broken into several apartments at her complex near Life University.
He had come through the back window near the area her mother stood in the apartment.
Mesar said he had a gun in his hand and a knife on his belt, but the freshman wrestler did most of the talking.
"I told him, ‘where you come from, I was like where I come from we would have shot you. You would have been dead on my floor. That's not a path you want to choose, you know’" Mesar said.
Neighbors said the suspect, identified by police as Amir Williams, likely had no idea how to react to Mesar and her mother, especially when the wrestler said her mother had a gun of her own.
