COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was killed and two others were injured in a rollover crash Friday afternoon in Cobb County.

According to police, a gray Ford Explorer veered off of Delk Road at 41 and flipped several times.

Police said the driver lost control of the car, and while attempting regain control, she overcorrected and the car flipped.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Ashleigh Smith of Marietta, was ejected from the vehicle and landed 60 feet away on an entrance ramp.

She was taken to Kennestone Hospital where she was pronounced dead Friday evening.

“(She) apparently went through the median, flipping several times. It did eject her from the vehicle as the driver,” Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

A 19-month-old child and front seat passenger Scottie Rosser, 25, of Marietta were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused delays on Interstate 75 before the road reopened Friday afternoon.

Kenny Marmom was driving the other way on Delk Road and saw the SUV flip several times. He saw the man jump out and pull the toddler from the back seat.

"'Oh, Lord,' I thought. ‘Is there any more in there?' So I just started running toward the vehicle, but he just started yelling for someone else, so I knew there was someone else he was looking for," he said.

Marmom said the scene will stay with him for a long time.

“I was praying for them the minute it happened. It’s got me shaking. I mean, I’m still shaking,” he said.

Witnesses said it looked like the driver was trying to avoid something in the road. Police are investigating the crash.
