MARIETTA, Ga. — Interstate 75 has reopened hours after a deadly crash in Cobb County.

Marietta police say one person died in the rollover crash near North Marietta Parkway in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 around 4 a.m.

Channel 2's Liz Artz learned at the scene that two vehicles were involved. A red BMW flipped, driven by 43-year-old Brian Kibler, several times on the interstate, authorities said. Kibler was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“From what witnesses were saying the red BMW driver had lost control of the vehicle and when he was trying to regain control, he collided into the rear end of the grey Infiniti,” said Marietta police spokesperson Brittany Wallace.

Another car, an Infiniti, ended up in a ditch nearby. The driver, 28-year-old Nicholas Boyett, was taken to Kennestone Hospital where he was later released.

Police say there was no evidence at the scene of the crash that suggested alcohol was a factor.

Investigators told Channel 2 Action News excessive speed may have played a role.

It took several house for the lanes to reopen.

Marietta police and other agencies are investigating.

Anyone with information about the wreck is asked to call officer Henderson at 770-794-5364.
