COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of Cobb County middle school students are out with the flu.

According to the school district, 148 students were absent from Dodgen Middle School Tuesday.

The Cobb County health department said more than 20 of those students have the flu.

More than 100 eighth grade students were on a field trip in Florida and eight students caught the flu in a three-day period. Some were so sick their parents traveled to Orlando to drive them home.

The health department also said more than nearly 150 students were absent last week from McClure Middle School, but it's unknown how many of those absences are flu-related cases.
