COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police are desperate to find a gunman who shot and killed a father in his car in front of his 8-year-old daughter.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. March 27 in Austell. Someone shot into Brian Sclafford-Clemons’ car multiple times outside a RaceTrac gas station, police said.
Channel 2′s Tom Jones was in South Fulton County, where he talked to the victim’s wife, Taryn Clemons.
Clemons told Jones that their daughter is traumatized after seeing her father get shot and that it all feels like a bad dream.
“Why would this happen to such a good-spirited, kind man who everyone loved?” Clemons asked.

Clemons said she is just thankful her 8-year-old survived after so many shots were fired into the car.
“For her to still be here is just an absolute miracle,” Clemons said.
Clemons said she and her family had lunch and then she had the taste for some ginger ale. Her husband and daughter headed to the RaceTrac about three minutes from home to get the soda.
As Clemons pulled up to the gas station, someone pumped multiple bullets into his car, killing him.
His daughter suffered minor injuries.
Clemons said her daughter’s mental injuries are much worse.
“She’s still in shock,” Clemons said. “I feel like she’s traumatized.”
Cobb police haven’t said much about the shooting other than that they are investigating.
Clemons said her husband was a truck driver who was hard working and loved his family.
“I could see if he was into something, but he wasn’t,” Clemons said.
Clemons is asking anyone who has information to contact police.
“I have 3 small children who lost their father,” Clemons said. “I lost my soulmate. My best friend.”
The family is trying to get the victim’s body back to New Jersey where he is from and where he will be laid to rest.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
