Fireworks shot off at Six Flags Over Georgia leaves park goers thinking they heard gunshots

AUSTELL, Ga. — Many thrill seekers at Six Flags Over Georgia this weekend had more of a scare than they anticipated at the amusement park’s Fright Fest.

People who were at the park Saturday night reported hearing gunshots in the parking lot around 10 p.m., according to Cobb County police.

Police told Channel 2 Action News Saturday night that they were investigating, but could not confirm whether or not shots had been fired.

Six Flags Over Georgia representatives confirmed Sunday afternoon that shots were not fired. Instead, they say police determined the sound came from fireworks that was being shot off in the parking lot.

Police have confirmed that no one was hurt.
