COBB COUNTY, Ga. — One local neighborhood found a way to come together, enjoy the sunshine and even play some putt putt golf.
Dan Domanik wanted to find a way for the kids and adults in the neighborhood to reconnect during this COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining their social distance.
To that end, he organized the first “Lockdown Chestnut Hill Putt Putt Tournament." It was held in Acworth this weekend.
“We wanted to give the neighborhood something that everyone could do. Have fun and get outside,” Domanik said. "If we can do it the right way and observe the social distancing, that’s what it’s all about.”

As the tournament marshal, Domanik shared the idea with his neighbors. He said within three hours, 19 neighbors had agreed to host holes at their homes.
Domanik said he just wanted a way for everyone to see each other but do it safely, too.
“We have 2 marshals going out on the course to observe not only people playing, but people who are hosting the holes. Nothing is being handed out that’s not sanitized. We went all the way through that and met with the hole sponsors. Everybody was on board,” he said.
The neighborhood went all out with the course Sunday afternoon decorated with sand traps, water hazards and of course, some Masters themes.
“Hole No. 13 is modeled after No. 13 in Augusta," Domanik said. "We also have a couple that were made all week long. Neighbors were posting pictures as they were in progress.”
Domanik said he can see this becoming an annual tradition.
