Kennesaw State senior finishes 2nd in ‘Jeopardy! National College Championship’ finals

KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw State University Senior Raymond Goslow may not have walked away from the “Jeopardy! National College Championship” with the top prize, but he didn’t walk away empty-handed.

Goslow advanced to the finals of the tournament after beating out competitors from Harvard University, Georgetown University and more.

In Tuesday night’s finale, which aired on Channel 2, Goslow battled students from Northeastern University and the University of Texas.

The trio of competitors played two full games and the winner was determined by adding their two scores together.

Jaskaran Singh from the University of Texas blew Goslow and Northeastern’s Liz Feltner away in the first game of the championship.

Goslow went into the second game’s Final Jeopardy round with a slight lead, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Singh.

Singh walked away with the title and the $250,000 that goes with it with a grand total score of $51,600.

Goslow finished in a close second place after dominating the second game. He ended the tournament with a grand total score of $46,999.

Goslow’s second place finish earned him a $100,000 consolation prize. Feltner walked away with $50,000.

A watch party at Kennesaw State University’s Carmichael Student Center attracted a large crowd of people to cheer on Goslow.

“I never expected this much support,” he told Channel 2 Action News crews. “I’m so proud of my school and I know my school is so proud of me.”

After graduation, Goslow plans to head to graduate school to get his Master’s degree in library science and become a librarian. When he graduated, he was working full time at the Cobb County Library System.

Goslow wasn’t the only Georgia student in the tournament. Claire Jackson from Spelman College and Elijah Odunade from the University of Georgia were both in the first round of play but did not advance.
