KENNESAW, Ga. — Police say a man is dead and another man is in custody after a shooting near the Kennesaw State University Thursday afternoon.
Cobb Police said a man was shot and killed at the Town Crossing Apartments. His identity has not been released. Police believe the shooting was drug related.
One man has been taken into custody. The suspect’s name has also not been released.
The shooting prompted a lockdown on campus that left many students and parents in a panic.
The university initially sent out an alert asking students to avoid the area of George Busbee Parkway between Frey Road and Chastain Road.

Officials later issued a more serious warning, telling students that there were potentially armed suspects on campus and asking students to stay inside and lock doors and windows.
The university said around 6 p.m. that there was no credible threat to the campus and students and staff could resume normal activities.
