COBB COUNTY, Ga. — There is a large police presence in a Cobb County neighborhood as police investigate a shooting.
Police have not released much information, but NewsChopper 2 was over the scene of a cul-de-sac in the Stoney Brook neighborhood of Mableton, where there were several police vehicles and at least one ambulance. One home and the cul-de-sac were roped off with crime scene tape.
Channel 2′s Christian Jennings was at the scene, where witnesses told her someone shot a man and then ran him over.
There were multiple evidence markers on the ground and several people who appeared to be in custody sitting on a curb.
At least two of the men were put into the back of patrol cars. Cobb County Police have not said whether they’ve been charged with a crime.
Greg and Laurie Hyde said nothing like this has ever happened in the 25 years they’ve lived in the neighborhood.
“I was sitting upstairs reading and heard gunshots so I looked out the window saw a guy get shot,” Greg Hyde said. “He hobbled around in front of the car the car took off ran over him literally ran over him didn’t just hit him, and raced up the hill and he was able to crawl into that yard and then four or 5 other guys came pouring out of the house yelling call the police.”
Stray bullets even went through a neighbor’s living room. The woman inside wasn’t hurt; she was upstairs at the time.
“She’s OK. She’s pretty shaken up, but she’s OK,” Greg Hyde said.

The Hydes said the victim came out of the home and got in the back of a silver car parked in the cul-de-sac. He was inside for a few minutes, and when he got out, he was shot.
“There was eight to 10 shots. He was trying to get out of the way and, that’s when they run him over,” Laurie Hyde said.
Neighbors said they’ve had concerns about the house.
“It’s a revolving door. It’s like a hotel,” Laurie Hyde said. “There’s a recording studio there.”
The victim was taken to the hospital. Police said the victim was in critical condition but have not identified him.
