COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A veteran Cobb County police officer and detective passed away Wednesday after a two-year battle with cancer.
The Cobb County Police Department announced the passing of Det. James Uzee Thursday morning.
Uzee served the department in various roles for 23 years.

According to CCPD, Uzee was known for making an impression on everyone he worked with and came into contact with during his time on the force.
He was described as “a genuinely caring man who shared all the good within him with those he worked with and those he served in the public, Detective Uzee will be missed by so very many.”

CCPD said they’re in mourning with the Uzee family, and asked the public to take time to pay respects to the fallen officer and telling him to “Rest easy, James.”
