KENNESAW, Ga. — Kennesaw police have confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that an hours-long standoff at a Cobb County home has ended after a man shot and killed himself.

According to police, a 42-year-old man was inside a home near the 4100 block of Kentmere Main.
Officers were able to get all of the children out of the home but were unable to communicate with the man, according to a news release.
“While we may never understand what led to this tragic circumstance, it is important to remember there are surviving family members and friends. Please join us in keeping these survivors in your thoughts and prayers,” Kennesaw Police Chief Westenberger said in a statement.

The Cobb County Police Department was also on the scene. Kennesaw police thanked Cobb PD and 911 officials for their hard work during this incident.
