COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in Cobb County.

The body of Larry Grigsby, 42, was found inside an SUV in a wooded area behind a daycare on Six Flags Parkway.

Investigators say Grigsby's two kids were in the car when it wrecked around 2:30 a.m. The children may have been inside the vehicle when Grigsby was shot.

"All we heard was a couple of gunshots, and then it stopped for a couple seconds. Then we heard six or seven more, and then all we heard was the tires screeching off," a witness said.

The witness who called 911 said the two children were tending to Grigsby when she arrived.

Sources tell Channel 2's Nicole Carr that the man was shot in the head. When Carr arrived on scene Sunday morning, the man's body was slumped across the front seats of the SUV.

Police were on scene for hours gathering evidence.
