COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man was shot at, handcuffed, kidnapped and had his car stolen from a Cobb County park.

The victim managed to escape by jumping out of a moving car on Austell Road before running into a restaurant and calling the police.

Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell spoke with a woman who works at a nearby daycare with security cameras that captured police responding to the restaurant.

“To see all the action that was going on was kind of surprising,” Renee Morgan said. “I’m so glad we are so close to the police department, so when things do happen they do come and respond very quickly.”

Police say two people kidnapped a man at Fair Oaks Park before he escaped two miles away and ran into a restaurant.

“If someone were to ask you to meet them at a park during hours when the park is closed, that is not a good idea,” Sgt. Smith said.

Investigators say the victim was robbed at gunpoint and shot at before the suspects stole his car.
