MARIETTA, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a car owned by a woman killed in south Georgia was spotted yesterday in Marietta.
Agents said police in Dawson, Georgia, found 59-year-old Annie Josie Chappell dead inside her home on Monday at around 2:30 p.m. Dawson is northwest of Albany in south Georgia.

Police said Dawson lived alone. The circumstances surrounding her death have not been released, although the GBI classified her death as a homicide.

Chappell’s car, a 2006 black Hyundai Elantra, was missing from her home. The car, which has a temporary tag C0521643, was spotted near Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta around 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

The GBI has not said how they were able to track the car to Marietta, or when Chappell may have been killed. They also have not identified any potential suspects.

The GBI Medical Examiner is working to determine how Chappell died.
