COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Neighbors in Cobb County are demanding change at a dangerous intersection. They are renewing their push after a two-vehicle crash that left three high school students seriously hurt.

Shonda Mcaal has gone through every emotion since her son Justin Powell, 16, lost an eye in a car crash.

"Once the swelling goes down his face is going to be deformed," Mcaal said.

Mcaal says he's an honor roll student athlete and violinist at McEachern High School in Powder Springs.

According to Mcaal, Powell says he was driving his football teammates home from concussion tests at school.

"All of them in that car are good kids and he was just doing a good deed," Mcaal said.

Powell's car was driving through the intersection of Lewis and Meadows roads around 2 p.m. when it crashed.

Pictures from the crash show what the impact looked like after the collision, which left the three teens in Powell's car injured.

"They have to live the rest of their lives from this incident, from this accident that could have avoided if that road was safe," Mcaal said.

Neighbor Cadina Lopez said she called 911.

"Honestly I thought somebody has died," Lopez said.

Lopez told Channel 2's Matt Johnson the crash that injured Powell was just the most recent one.

"(There have been) probably about four or five car crashes since I've been here in four years," Lopez said.

Lopez says she is following up with the Georgia Department of Transportation and local officials to get a four-way stop sign installed.

Powell's mother says that change could next time be the difference between life and death.

"Please help my son. Help my child so nothing like this can happen to anyone else child," Mcaal said.

The two other teens in the crash suffered broken bones.
