No plans to change security after fight broke out at Cumberland Mall

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — An investigation is underway after police arrested multiple people following a fight at Cumberland Mall.

Three people have been arrested after an incident that prompted a massive police presence at Cumberland Mall in Cobb County. Out of the three, two are juveniles.

On Monday, the mall told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell they are focused on keeping everyone safe.

Panic and chaos took over as holiday shoppers ran for cover at Cumberland Mall on Sunday.

“The more we looked. The more people are running,” shopper Sharon Darby said.

One by one, employees began closing gates and shutting down stores.

“Fifteen, 20 different cop cars maybe five or six different fire trucks,” shopper Rodney Davis said.

“There were just blue lights everywhere,” shopper Cline Moody said.

Cobb County police said they found a trail of blood found in front of several stores inside the Cumberland Mall stores.

Police believe the blood came from someone who was involved in a fight which was captured on security cameras. But police said there is no evidence of an active shooting or reports of a stabbing.

Police arrested six people from fights that broke out at the mall, in November. Mall officials say all six are banned from the mall.

Cumberland Mall released a statement about the incident:

“We do not tolerate this type of behavior, and we have banned the individuals from our center. We have a strict code of conduct that we expect everyone to follow. We have a robust security program in place that includes a close partnership with Cobb County Police Department.”
