MARIETTA, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting that injured an officer in Marietta.
Marietta police confirm Officer Scott Davis was shot while responding to the Gallery Apartments on reports of people breaking into cars on the 700 block of Franklin Gateway.
Davis' wounds are non-life-threatening.
About 11 a.m.,
said Davis was out of surgery after being shot in the leg by one of two 15-year-olds.
Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach talked to a witness who was in the parking lot at his car just feet away when the bullets started flying.
"I hear, 'Get on the ground, get on the ground, don’t move,'” witness Sergio Hernandez said. “And I popped my head up and I start hearing gunshots, so I drop and crouch down to take cover behind my car and I stayed that way till the gunshots stopped.”

According to witnesses, the suspects immediately opened fire as soon as officers started yelling to get on the ground.
One neighbor heard about 10 gunshots in rapid fire.
Bullets went into a nearby apartment, shattering a bedroom window, but no one inside was hit.
Marietta Police Chief Dan Flynn went to the hospital to see Davis and talk to his family.
"It is a non-life-threatening injury, but nevertheless, still a gunshot injury, so we have been in contact with the officer's next of kin and we're praying for the officer,” Flynn said.
Police say the two suspects were members of the Blood Gang. They were charged with a violation of the Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, aggravated assault on a police officer, entering auto, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and theft by receiving.
