KENNESAW, Ga. — One person has died after a police chase in Cobb County overnight.
A Cobb police spokesperson told Channel 2 Action News that an officer saw a driver in a 2013 BMW X5 speeding on Ernest Barrett Parkway. The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but instead the driver sped away.
The driver tried to turn but instead collided with a subdivision sign off Frey Road and Abington Walk. The driver went airborne and hit several trees, according to police.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger who was in the car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Neither the driver nor the passenger have been identified.

A Channel 2 Action News photographer saw a large police presence in this area, shortly after midnight.
Officers are continuing to investigate this incident.
