“Our goal here is to hold accountable the person responsible for this murder. Right now we have more questions than answers,” said Marietta Ofc. Chuck McPhilamy.
Police responded to a 911 call around 8 p.m. Monday on Bellemeade Drive near Power Springs Road. When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground in one of the car wash bays.
“We did discover that individual had been shot, while the lifesaving attempts were made that evening, they were not able to revive him,” said Officer McPhilamy.

Police identified the victim as 59-year-old Daniel Richardson Jr., of Marietta.
Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting and are hoping video will turn up that could help identify a suspect.
“He’s a local here, so we are hoping someone may have information either about Daniel and some of his friends and family, so we could connect the pieces to this,” said McPhilamy.
A car wash customer said he was surprised to learn of the deadly shooting.
“I hate it for him, whatever happened. It’s a bad thing. You just have to be careful,” said customer Eric Scales.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the Marietta Police Department.
