Some residents spoke with Channel 2 Action News about the rude awakening they got Sunday morning.
Chris Caldwell recalls being awakened by a tree falling through the middle of his home.
“There’s a tree through the bedroom, (the) living room. I could see through the hall, all my walls were smashed in,” he said.
When the sun came up he could see the extent of the damage.
“Everything you work for is gone,” he said.
As neighbors continue to clean up the debris and work to repair their damaged homes, they say they’re still trying to make sense of it all.
“I don’t even know how we’re going to get our clothes. Our medications are in there. (It’s) just devastating,” he said.
The National Weather Service has not yet decided if they’ll be surveying that area for damage on Monday.
They told Channel 2 Action News that they’ll make that determination after 9 a.m.
