COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County police say a mother was killed and her 1-year-old daughter was critically injured after they tried to cross the street after an accident Sunday night.
Police have identified the victim as Kayanne K.L. Dunn, 37, of Hiram. Her daughter remains in critical condition at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Police said Dunn was driving eastbound on C.H. James Parkway west of Oglesby Road around 9:30 p.m. when her car hit the back of another car in the left lane.

Dunn stopped at the intersection and got out of the car holding her daughter. When she tried to cross the road, Dunn and the child were hit by a Chevrolet Blazer and a Ford Taurus.
Police identified the drivers who hit Dunn and the child as Kimberly Bass, 47, and Dakota Schneider, 28. It’s unclear if they are facing any charges.

Dunn and her daughter were rushed to Cobb Hospital, where Dunne died. The baby remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
