MARIETTA, Ga. — The Marietta City School District is remembering the life of a beloved student.
Channel 2′s Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell was at one of two growing memorials for the teenager.

Liv Teverino died in a car crash Monday night along Burnt Hickory Road. Teverino was only 16 years old, but she touched the lives of so many.
“Liv was a scholar, an athlete, and a leader in our community,” Marietta Superintendent Dr. Grant Rivera said.
“When she walked in, the room lit up. She was the light in our darkness,” student Will Bennett said.
Written notes and flowers now fill Teverino’s parking space outside of Marietta High School.
An entire community coming together, leaning on one another, to process an unimaginable loss.

“Everyone’s hurt. I’ve never seen Marietta come together like this,” Bennett said.
Teverino was an entrepreneur and a part of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce youth leadership program.
“She was one that is leaving such a strong legacy with how she treated people, all she did for the community,” Cobb Chamber President and CEO Sharon Mason said.
On social media, #LiveLikeLiv is a hashtag to perfectly describe the role model she was.
“She was selected from hundreds of applications because of her great leadership, abilities and skills. She was beloved by all,” Mason said.
“Liv was a member of our international program the most academically rigorous program that one could take at Marietta High School,” Grant said.
“She had an effect on everybody,” Bennett said.

Teverino was also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
A number of events are scheduled to honor Teverino’s life in the coming days and weeks.
Police are still trying to figure out what caused the crash.
